Winding Creek Animal Club Fitness Challenge

What is the Winding Creek Animal Club Fitness Challenge?
It is a voluntary extracurricular program that promotes physical activity.

Who can participate?
All students, parents, family and staff are encouraged to participate.

How is mileage counted?
Twenty minutes of physical activity equals one mile. However, one hour practices for sports teams count as one mile. For example, one hour of basketball practice equals one mile. Twenty minutes of biking equals one mile. The activity should elevate the participant's heart rate for the entire twenty minutes.

How should mileage be recorded?
Log sheets are sent home that have blocks on them. Students should cross of or color in the blocks after they complete one mile of activity. Filling in the date is not mandatory.

Are there any rewards?
Do you mean besides feeling healthier, having more energy, and staying in or getting in great shape? You bet. Students will receive a shoe token every time they earn into a new club. They will also sign their names to the poster of each club they make. Students who complete enough miles to be in the Falcon Club will also earn a certificate.

What does the "Winding Creek Animal Club Fitness Challenge" mean?
Participants will attempt to keep up with the world's fastest animals. These animals are the fastest on the earth. For example earning into the Lion Club equals 50 miles of exercise because the lion can travel up to 50 miles per hour! Of coarse, we will take longer than an hour for our 50 miles.

Here are the clubs:
Squirrel Club - Student has completed at least 10 miles of exercise!
Elephant Club - Student has completed at least 20 miles of exercise!
Grizzly Bear Club- Student has completed at least 30 miles of exercise!
Coyote Club- Student has completed at least 40 miles of exercise!
Lion Club - Student has completed at least 50 miles of exercise!
Antelope Club - Student has completed at least 60 miles of exercise!
Cheetah Club - Student has completed at least 70 miles of exercise!
Falcon Club - Student has completed 100 or more miles of exercise!!

Can family members earn rewards?
We encourage family members to participate. Students will need to ask their P.E. teacher for extra mileage sheets. However, tokens will be reserved for students only.
